Steve Chamberlain is an award winning artist with Best of Show in 2014 at both Escalante and Moab plein air competitions. His subject is light and the joyful expression of it. his paintings contrast light and the opposition that comes from the absence of light and color.
Steve's best paintings come when he gets out of the way and lets the subject express itself through him. He loves to start by pushing the paint around and letting the scene tell him what it wants to say.
Steve loves painting outdoors in the open, "plein air" because it requires immediate and unedited brush strokes to capture constantly changing shadow.
His studio is located in East Millcreek Utah where he enjoys working with his creative wife Tresa, who is his greatest support and inspirational muse.
